My Story - From Band-Aids to Balance: Healing My Relationship With Health

Let’s talk about acne. It’s been part of my story since I was eight years old — yes, eight. Some of my earliest memories are of my mom gently tending to the pimples on my forehead, both of us trying to make sense of what my body was going through.

By the time I turned 14, I was desperate for clear skin — not just because of high school, but because I didn’t feel like myself in my own skin. So, like many young girls, I was prescribed birth control. It felt like a miracle at first — my skin cleared almost overnight. But I didn’t yet understand what it meant to override my body’s natural rhythms.

Puberty is a sacred, formative time. And when we suppress our body’s process, it often speaks louder in return. I’ve come to learn that the body is always seeking balance — a state called homeostasis — and when we disrupt that balance, symptoms become signals.

After five years, I stopped taking birth control, and my system went into overdrive. My hormones were out of sync, and so was I. That was the beginning of my real healing journey — one that didn’t rely on quick fixes, but on understanding the deeper wisdom of my body.

I started small: nourishing foods, movement that felt intuitive, more rest, more self-compassion. I stopped chasing perfection and began choosing balance instead. I realized health isn’t something to force — it’s something to flow with.

Then I noticed something else: my skin responded to my environment. When I was living on campus in university, my breakouts calmed. When I returned home, they flared. Later, when I transitioned into a career I loved, my skin began to glow. That’s when it clicked — health isn’t just about what we eat. It’s about the energy we surround ourselves with.

That insight deepened when I discovered cycle syncing — the practice of aligning your lifestyle with your menstrual cycle. It was like a light switch turned on. As I embraced this rhythm, my stress melted, my energy returned, and my skin began to heal in ways I never thought possible. I felt connected to myself in a way I hadn’t since I was a child.

This experience led me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I learned that health is multidimensional: it’s not just food and fitness — it’s relationships, mindset, purpose, and alignment. As Joshua Rosenthal said, what’s off your plate is just as important as what’s on it.

Today, I’ve found a rhythm that supports me — and I help other women do the same. My journey is still unfolding, because true healing isn’t a destination. It’s a relationship with yourself. It’s a process of listening, adjusting, and honoring the natural cycles that make you powerful.

If you're ready to trust your body, embrace your rhythm, and live in alignment with your feminine energy — I’m here for you. Let’s walk this path together.
